A feature track on Tiësto’s forthcoming new mix album “Club Life – Volume Two Miami”, Luciana has carefully crafted a vocal masterpiece paired against Tiësto and Wolfgang Gartner’s powerful instrumental for an epic result.

“We wrote the song with DJs in mind. They own the club, the crowd are in the palm of their hands, this moment belongs to them. This also reflects in the video. Also it’s about the clubbers themselves… that feeling of connection between the DJ and that moment… It’s such a pure and beautiful feeling when you are in it… it can’t be beaten.”

”The inspiration for the song was from dancing in the middle of the club Avalon in LA, and having that feeling of connection…. like electric volts from the DJ to the crowd.. I put my hands up and surrender….. I wanted to encapsulate that in a song.”

”Sometimes the silence in between is where you are at one with the DJ the most… the breakdown… just before the track kicks in… that’s when the magic moment, for me happens.”

”When I perform this song I get goosebumps. For me, sonically, it’s the perfect dance song. It ticks every box for people to get down and taste that club dirt.”

Queen of the beat Luciana has recently worked on tracks with the likes of Taio Cruz, Kylie Minogue, Cheryl Cole, Swedish House Mafia, Nicole Scherzinger, Deadmau5, and The Black Eyed Peas. Known the World over for her infectious electro pop crossover style, Luciana achieved double platinum sales of late with ‘I Like That’ – one of 2011′s biggest dance anthems around the World.

You’re most recognised in the UK for your vocals on the Bodyrox track “Yeah Yeah”. How did the collaboration arise?

I knew Jon from Bodyrox already via Michael Gray and Nick Clow, when I was part of an act called Portobella. When I heard the instrumental I thought “what the bloody hell is that?” My management at the time said: “do you want to write over it?” So Nick and I did. We had an argument and I wrote these lyrics, then took them in to the studio. And the rest is history.

You received an Ivor Novello nomination for “Yeah Yeah” in 2007. Is songwriting your therapy?

Yes, I love crafting a song. I’m happiest when I’m creating. The Ivor Novello Award nomination was a definite highlight for me. To even be nominated was totally fabulous. Amy Winehouse pipped us to the post that year with “Rehab”.

What sounds are inspiring you at the moment?

I’m loving Skrillex, Porter Robinson, Sia Furler and Swedish House Mafia currently.
You’re massively into art. Was it something that you wanted to pursue as a career?

I’ve always painted or created through different mediums. There was a time when music was making me unhappy and I felt like I didn’t want to create via songwriting anymore… so I stopped writing and started painting. I had an exhibition in Soho with my ‘iCON’ collection… portraits of popular icons. For me, it was an escape from music and it helped me just stop and not think for a while. Now I’m back with music and writing songs, I don’t have as much time to paint.

You’ve worked with some amazing people and you’re currently writing with Cheryl Cole and Nicole Scherzinger. Who would your dream collaboration be with?

My dream collaboration would be with Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, Pharrell Williams, Calvin Harris, Will-i-am…

“I’m Still Hot” was a massive online sensation, especially the guest appearance from the legendary Betty White. How does it feel to have massive success in the US?

I don’t feel like a massive success in the US – you can have a big hit in California for example, and no one may have heard of you in New York. The Betty White collaboration helped as it was all over the media, but the US is so large. It takes a long, long time for a record to break nationally.

The artists you work with are very diverse – from Deadmau5 to Taio Cruz. What’s been your favourite collaboration to date?

If you had told me I would be doing a duet with Betty White from the Golden Girls… well… I would have said you were crazy – she is royalty!!

Alright so in the age of the solo female, Luciana is kind of like a shining beacon. She’s been living in the “featuring” role since her true breakout performance with Bodyrox back in ’06 with “Yeah Yeah”, and making one hell of a career out of it since then. Then in 2009 she made a significant splash again with the immensely catchy “I Like That”, although the track took quite a while to really dig it’s claws into the dance world. This gave her the steam to tackle a leading role on last year’s “I’m Still Hot”, a cute and aggressive electro track that gained even more notoriety when a video supporting The Lifeline Program featured a hilariously spry Betty White. Luciana is still hopping into the featuring role, thank goodness, as she teams back up with Bodyrox for “Bow Wow Wow” with rapper Chip. The track is everything you’d expect it to be, full of Luciana’s signature attitude, Bodyrox’s engaging electro production, and a rap from someone else. Although give him credit, Chip has a LOT of charisma in this video. Keep on keepin’ on Luciana!

So You’ve probably heard the hype surrounding the track and Street Dance 2. This latest collaboration with Bodyrox and Chip lives up to the expectations and the hype.
The track , both quirky and energetic , is matched with the ever so slightly surreal Video. The imagery has definite nods to ‘Yeah Yeah’ and Luciana’s facehoody at the beginning steals the show.
Luciana says “We wanted to feature a hoodie as a continuation from the ‘Yeah Yeah’ video. My creative visual partner and stylist David Burgoyne came up with the idea of using my face on the hoodie as kind of trick of the eye. We were insistent that the beginning of the video featured the facehoody. I think you will agree the visuals are awesome.”
The track is released on April 15th in the uk. The ‘facehoody’ hoodie has began it’s own craze and can be purchased with your own or Luciana’s face on it from www.facehoody.com.
